Proud, IJSO Gives Lots of Benefits for Students
IJSO, Bali - Paresh K. Joshy–The Chairman of International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO)–personally feels so proud after participating in IJSO for 6 years. IJSO is known to have given tons of benefits for the participants. Furthermore, IJSO has also helped many talented students to become young scientists with motivation to reach their dreams in the future.
According to Joshi, the implementation of the 13th IJSO this year is averagely stable. IJSO has given a chance for the students, in their young age, to know how fields of science can be integrated and how scientists can collaborate in experiments at a young age.
“Therefore, I agree that IJSO is an event that has given lots of advantages for young scientists, such as motivating them to learn on how to give the best solution for the future. The participants are expected to become brilliant scientists and to keep doing positive experiments that can be useful in the future after going back to their own country,” he said.
The execution of the IJSO 2016 in Bali, Indonesiathis year is very well done and well organized, according to Joshi. In a very short time, the execution of the IJSO is in line with the expectation and has given positive impressions to the participants and all the teamsinvolved. Joshi also gave comment to the teamwork that has been done maximally to succeed the biggest international science competition.
“The IJSO this year runs smoothly, good, neat and well organized. In a short time, they were capable to have a good preparation and team work; it also matches the academicals theme. I’m very proud, it will surely be a good example for the next implementation,” he said.
Speaking of science, Joshi thinks that it has a crucial role in the world of education. Science has become the spearhead of the education. Therefore, the global challenge that must be answered is about how to maintain and increase the learners of science so that it won’t disappear over time.
“Science is necessary in all subjects of education; observation, historical investigation, technology and art, all use science as the benchmark and foundation. So, science is extremely needed. Hence, IJSO is one of the efforts of the world to maintain and support the young generations who love science to keep growing so they won’t disappear as the time changes,” he explained.
Regarding the young generations, Joshi admitted that science enthusiasts are not growing these days. But, there are still many students who decided to take the faculty of engineering and medicine. So, he concluded that the science enthusiasts of this young generations are still stable for now; there is no significant ups and downs.
Joshi described to the youngsters that the science enthusiasts are the world’s heroes now and then. Science has given a lot to the world, especially in technology.
“Metal for example, it used to remain unknown, we didn’t know how to use it and how to combine it. But until an observation was done, many ways to use metal were found. There are lots of inventions also found in health sector and astronomy. All knowledges have their own heroes already, and all the heroes came from science background,” he said.
The development of science in all countries in the world, already has many enthusiasts, even though the more popular field of science is not the pure one.Still, every research is based on pure science. Hence the pure science enthusiasts should be able to improve themselves to compete with the change in real world.
“Lastly, for IJSO, we all hope that this Olympiad will be much bigger and long-lasting, and will unite the children through science. It is also an act of world peace that we should achieve really soon, I hope these young scientists will realize our dream of world peace,” he said.
